For readers
You can subscribe to a journalist or publication to support their work (and unlock any content they've chosen to make subscriber-only). If you subscribe for five dollars a month, they see 90% of it. That's the promise at the center of the platform: your money goes to the journalism, not to us.
For creators
Subscriptions, advertising placements, and direct support all flow to you at that same priority — you keep 90% of direct reader support. Set up payouts in payment settings: connect where the money should go, handle the tax form, done. Anyone can set up payouts; nothing about that step is gated.
Earning from your readers comes with Premium — both reader subscriptions and receiving direct support. Placing an ad or backing someone else is open to everyone. Until you're set up to receive, people simply won't see the option to back you, so no one's money is ever left in limbo.
This guide is the one home of the split. Wherever support flows — to an individual's feed, a specific piece, or a journalism publication — 90% goes to the person or publication being supported. When we add new ways to support journalism (this is a young platform and the model is deliberately evolving), this guide is where the current shape lives; other guides point here rather than restating numbers.
We don't quote membership pricing or tier details here — those live on the membership page, always current.
